Getting Rid of Moles

Getting Rid of Moles

The very first stage in any treatment designed for the purpose of getting rid of moles must be correct identification of what the problem/condition really is. And the problem with warts and moles is that they can often look quite alike. The textbook definition of a wart is: a small area of virus infection which has being around awhile. Whereas moles can be described as patches of skin that have become heavily pigmented with the substance known as melanin (melanin is responsible for general skin coloring).

Even though they are not dangerous warts can definitely become a nuisance, on top of which they do vary in their appearance – adding to the problem of getting rid of warts. But a mole that you have had from birth could in certain circumstances eventually grow into a malignant melanoma. Of course if this happens then you need to have it removed immediately by a physician.

There are a few types of warts and moles you must first distinguish:

Common wart: these appear usually on hands or feet. Typically it is a hard lump and it has a roughened-up surface a bit like a cauliflower. Moles can appear anywhere on your body. Typically they are small, approximately circular in shape and a much darker color than any surrounding skin, and the larger moles could possibly have coarse hairs coming out of them. So it’s a good idea with children to look out for changes in their skin colour, texture etc. – just so you can be sure they don’t need any help in getting rid of moles or even medical attention of any type.

One wart that is sometimes mistaken for a mole is called Molluscum Contagiosum. These are made up of small, pale coloured lumps and inside them is a sort of cheesy material. The reason they are confusing is because while they’re not true warts they are just like warts. They appear in groups, usually in children – especially who where a child has had eczema. A mole might be raised a bit higher than the surrounding skin or it might be quite flat.

Sebaceous cyst: typically these present themselves as smooth, yellowy in colour, soft lumps which are just under the surface of your skin. Occasionally a tiny dark spot might be seen above the centre of the cyst. These harmless growths are most typically found on the scalp. With warts the majority of them will disappear on their own after a few months but in a few cases it can take several years. If you ever have any spots on your skin that are concerning you, do not hesitate in seeking medical advice and if necessary a small sample can be sent away for biopsy. Getting rid of moles, warts or any other troubling skin blemish deserves to be given priority.

You might have warts that you are not concerned about from a health point of view but they can be very unsightly or annoying, especially on the face, so in these cases it is quite appropriate to seek treatment. And surgery, with the possibility of scars being left, is of course not the only treatment possibility. Dr Charles Davidson MD, himself a sufferer of warts over a long period of time, has done a lot of research into treatments that can be carried out at home without dangerous or toxic chemicals and which have an effect on the mole or warts within a reasonable time.
